turning the other cheek

so I've been thinking a lot about turning the other cheek.  Matthew 5:39  What a privilege to suffer for Christ though our suffering is so little.  Momentary and light!  I look forward to having another opportunity to turn my face for another slap.  Perhaps I should say, the first slap since I tend to resist offering either cheek for punishment.

So we sold our house... actually closed and sold and all.  It took a very long time, but we are out of 11470 Bristle Oak Trail.  We loved that house, the neighbors, the neighborhood, and all things Anderson Mill.  David Brown was talking with me the other day about the first house you buy and how sentimental you are towards the house.  I found it to be true for us!  We loved our house... but may the Lord grant us a better house than before.  Heb 13:14.  Look out Normal.  Here we come!

it's official! praise the Lord!! Though a bittersweet praise, a praise nonetheless. :) I will miss the interior tree bark and will cherish summer 06 when B, Cecilia, and I lived there together. :) It's pretty sweet that y'all get to spend your remaining days in Austin living with the Browns...how cool for all of you! May the Lord lead y'all to your next home.

Love to hear more of your thoughts on turning the other cheek . . . as Richard and I have been living with two non-Christians this year, we have struggled with practicing this as well. When do we turn the other cheek and when do we confront?

Praise God for selling your house! Can't wait to hear about your next adventures.

so what I've discovered is my inclination is to not turn the other cheek in my heart at least. I know I take a lot and don't usually confront too often, but I also don't turn the cheek. I usually try not to get hurt to begin with and then when faced with opportunity to turn, I run or fight. I'm sure the Lord leads us when to turn and when to fight, but I know my tendency is to fight or run, but hardly ever to turn.

Mmm . . . Good thoughts, Rudy. Sometimes we can think that we are turning the other cheek when in reality we are just putting walls up to not get hurt and dismissing what is going on. I hadn't thought about it that way. Let me know when you do a teaching on it and I will listen!!
